Plates has a new look and a few new features!

Added

New theme that evolves as you score points.
New Challenge Plate mode: find a single word that fits the clue! Click the main score plate to try it.
New "What's new" button / modal (you're looking at it!)
New "to go" indicator showing how many points remain till the next rank.

Changed / removed

The previous Finish option is gone. Now you can share your plate at any point, and your streak will persist no matter what.

How to play

Try to make words out of the letters in the plate! All the letters in the plate must show up in order in your word, but they don't need to be next to each other.

Valid: ORANGE, FORGET

Invalid: DOG, GEODE

There are two modes: Score Plate and Challenge Plate. In Score Plate mode, you try to get as many points as possible; in Challenge Plate mode you're just trying to get a single word.

Scoring

Length: 5 points for every letter beyond the clue's.
Buried: +25 if the word neither starts with the plate's first letter nor ends with its last, +10 if it's buried at one end only.
Snug: +15 if the three letters appear consecutively, as in TOGETHER.
Vanity Plate: one special word on every plate is worth +250.
